HPV Question

I have a small brown spot at the base of my penis (where iti's attached to my body). It has never caused me any problems and it has been there for ever. I currently have genital herpes. How do I know if this spot is HPV or just a mole?

i too have herpes 1 genitally, i also got a small brown spot on the base of my penis that also spread to two other small spots next to it, i dont know what it was but i put salysic acid on it and irritated the skin there and then after i removed the skin with a razor for shaving, shaving off that skin, and it never appeared again, what was it? who knows.? hard question
