Question Skin Rashes

Hello my name is Trista and I'm only 17 years old. I'm kind of sared I've been getting rashes uderneath my armpits and once and while on the back of my neck. I heard that one reason for the rashes under my armpits can be caused from too much deodorant but I don't understand why it won't go away?? And why am I getting it on the back of my neck? Can it be anything serious? Please help me.

I was getting this too.I stopped using all deodorants and the problem went away.I found out that I really don't need deodorant anyway .If I notice that I'm stinking (usually around that time of month)I just take an extra shower and wash my privates and underarms only, that way I don't dry out my skin.

What kind of rash is it?

Infected hair follicles (called folliculitis) are often a problem under the arms. If the bumps seem to each surround an individual hair and/or pore and are slightly raised, you should see the doctor. He/she will give you a mild antibiotic if it is folliculitis, and the rash should go away.

If you think deoderants are causing your rash, discontinue using them and see what happens. If your rash disappears, you will have to search for alternative ways to keep yourself fresh-smelling (you can ask for ideas on this board!).

If you stop using deoderants, and the rash remains, you should probably see a doctor. Your family doctor can probably help you out.

Good luck!
