Post For those who have nail fungus

For those who have nail fungus, for your information.

I don't have the problem myself but though you would be interested. It's seems that Vick's vaporub is a cure for nail fungus. I got this information from a newspaper column "Dr. Gott". This doctor swears by it, and people wrote back saying that it did work. He doesn't know what makes it work but it does. Just rub in on your nails everyday day. I don't remember how much time it takes to work.

Hope this info is useful.

my husband has this problem so last night i did a search to see what i could find-well one doctor seems to think that vics is not the way to go because it is water basedwhich could set up more problems-he suggests using white vinegar-2 drops twice a day at the base of the nail-i must say that there were some people who said the vics worked for them but more liked the vinegar

Bleach, vinegar and Vicks vaporub are NOT a cure for nail fungus. They will make it 'appear' to get better, but none of the above mentioned items contain any type of chemical that will work to kill the fungal spores. Fungal spores feed off the proteins in the nail plate and hide deep within the nail bed tissues (the skin underneath the nail plate). The ONLY medications that can reach this deeply into the skin are oral medications. If taken properly, oral medications will successfully 'kill' the fungal spores - something that Bleach, Vinegar and Vicks cannot do.
