Moose - I have used a CPAP now for over 4 yrs and when the technician fitted me, she said it would be my best friend. Well, I took that with a "grain of salt" but after about 2 months, she was right. I don't go anywhere without it. I deer hunt, etc. and I even got a 12 volt adapter so I can use the CPAP while camping in areas that lack electricity.
I have a machine called Virtuosos which is made by Resperonics and this device has a variable pressure gauge that regulates the amount of pressure needed to end the obstructive apnea episode as they occur. Then after 60 seconds of breathing it ramps back down to a lower level. I use a new type of head gear that just came out last summer (Breeze) and it uses the nasel pillows. The thing that is nice about this gear is nothing touches your face. Only the pillows on/in the nose.
