cause memory changes /fatigue?

Does anyone have any thoughts about the connection between cervical stenosis (pretty severe at c5,6,7) and cognitive problems? Also, what about fatigue? Maybe I am just obsessing about my neck since this all came down so recently. Just thought I would check it out with the board.

Fatigue is definitely a symptom. I used to get exhausted like I couldn't put one foot in front of the other and walking up steps was an effort. I can't say about the memory part because I have that problem off and on a lot.(smile) I think its called "getting older" - I will turn 59 in March.

Hi Empi,
Did (do) you have cervical stenosis? It sounds like your fatigue is under control now. Did you have surgery and is that why it's better? As far as the memory thing goes, I must at least give some thought to age being a factor because I think I turned sixty last fall. http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/redface.gif}
Why does the narrowing cause fatigue...restricting what?

Hi Spimo,

I have read about stenosis and some of the problems CAN include cognitive dysfunctions (memory loss, difficulty with words, etc.) This could be directly related to poor nerve transmission, and some people are prescribed Neurontin or other stuff. Also... with alot of pain and the stress of a chronic disorder can come depression. That also messes with your ability to concentrate and remember. Discuss your concerns with your doctor, ok? They are legitimate.

Neuortin will cause a memory lapse.
Pain in general will play with the mind.
I had a strugle with not being able to think..It was/is embarrising. For the Medical part of my life I keep a chart. For my social life I tell folks it is not a senior moment it is a Spine Moment. For My family they try to understand and are kind most of the time.
