Post Anyone who has had facet blocks!!!!

Anyone out there who had had facet blocks and it helped. I believe my facet joints are my problem.
Most importantly, I need to know if they have made anyone WORSE than before the procedure.

Please respond!

Christina

June 2002: Had a relapse and tore/ruptured disc again.
Now I'm 14 months into it and the pain is still there.
Can't deal with it anymore so I'm having a discectomy in Sept. Hoping and praying that it takes care of my problems!!

Christina,

My facet joints have been identified as one of my pain generators. They are going to do epidural injections first, because of my radiculopathy in my arm. My PM talked about doing a rhizotomy, where they burn and disconnect the small nerves around the facet joints to interrupt the pain signals. It is suppose to give you relief for several months.

Of course the nerves will grow back, but it takes up to 6 months to a year. 6 months without pain would be worth it to me.

Hi Christina,
I have had loads of facet blocks before surgery(adr)and found them all helpful. I have had 3 lots at c5/6, i lot at c3/4 and last week at c2/3 which have helped my headaches alot. I would try them and recommend them if you have disc and or facet/nerve related problems. Mine also seemed to work for around 6 months.
