Post Positive Attitude About Medication

To All,
I started feeling terribly sick at a young age. I was constantly light headed, feeling out of body, anxiety.. and no matter how much I ate, I felt that I was not getting enough sugar in my brain to function. I have suffered for years with this problem. I am now 23 year old.. living in New York City and trying to conquer it. I have tried everything in the book from diet, excercise, vitamins, and sunlight, cognitive behavioral therapy to spiritual guidance. A positive attitude and strong will have gotten me this far, but only so far. I see no reason why I should suffer any longer.
I find it discouraging how many negative posts there are about medication. Medication exists to help people, not destroy lives. And for people who are truly lacking essential brain chemicals, these medicines are life savers.
If you are experiencing negative effects, it may be because you truly don't need these medications to cure yourself. Your body is always speaking to you, and you should listen.
Regardless of your case, negative ruminations and thoughts will never lead to positive results. If you think you need medicine, then have faith that it WILL help you. Do everything in your power to help yourself.
Granted, people with positive experiences with medication are probably off enjoyin life and not wasting time on message boards. But one of the reasons I am coming to this board is for positive reinforcement, and am saddened to see no positivity.
The medication I have started taking has already helped me. I think that if everyone on the board kept a positive attitude and supported eachother, we would all get alot farther. What do you think?

I absolutely agree. It really disappoints me to come to this board and see negative, argumentative messages. I come here for support and encouragement, and I find it so depressing to see a constant stream of messages telling me about the awful things that my medication is doing to me.

Let's have some faith that our medication will help us and some faith that we won't need to take the medication for ever!

Thanks for your message Kyra, it really cheered me up.

thank you both for the positive words. I know that the anxiety makes me wary of taking meds to begin with, then when I hear so many bad things about them I makes me even more afraid. I started on Paxil Cr about 7 weeks ago and without it I really dont know how I would have made it this far. The meds have worked great so far and I to hope that I dont need them forever, but I am willing to take them as long as necessary to keep the anxiety level down. Thanks again for the positive words. God bless you both.

Great guys! I am happy to see more positive attitudes I am feeling better on Effexor.. and finally am beginning to realize that what I have been dealing with all of these years was a true inbalance. I encourage everyone who is suffering with severe anxiety or depression to seek medical help. I have many friends whose lives were changed drastically with medication, for the better. After their bodies were adjusted and chemicals back in place, they went off of them.. and still feel great!
Progress and positive results are all about outlook.. KARMA GUYS. If you take a pill with negative thoughts, then the results are likely to be adverse. But if you think "this is going to help me" and thank the pill gods for creating a cure, you will feel good. Just believe in yourself, make your decisions based on what is best for you... and go for it! There is a big world out there and great life to be lived. Why suffer or settle for less!!!
