If you planning to take SSRI's for treatment for anxiety, I believe ya should read this, and hopefully it help you choose the right SSRI that you interesting.

1. LUVOX (fluvoxamine maleate) is a selective serotonin (5-HT) reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) belonging to a new chemical series, the 2-aminoethyl oxime ethers of aralkylketones. It is chemically unrelated to other SSRIs and clomipramine.

2. PAXIL (paraxotine HCL) is an orally administered antidepressant with a chemical structure unrelated to other selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors or to tricyclic, tetracyclic or other available antidepressant agents.

3. LEXAPRO (escitalopram oxalate) is an orally administered selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI). Escitalopram is the pure S-enantiomer (single isomer) of the racemic bicyclic phthalane derivative citalopram.

4. Celexa (citalopram HBr)is an orally administered selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) with a chemical structure unrelated to that of other SSRI's or of tricyclic, tetracyclic, or other available antidepressant agents.

5. Prozac (fluoxetine HCL) Fluoxetine hydrochloride is an antidepressant for oral administration; it is chemically unrelated to tricyclic, tetracyclic, or other available antidepressant agents.

6. Zoloft (sertraline HCL) Sertraline HCl is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) for oral administration. It is CHEMICALLY UNRELATED to other SSRIs, tricyclic, tetracyclic, or other available antidepressant agents.

I am just trying to put some info on SSRI's good and bad news... Also I wanted people to know that SSRI meds are different from each other.

Thanks for the info, but I'm still confused. My doctor prescribed celexa for me for my anxiety and I still don't know if I want to take it because I'm worried about the side effects - weight gain and lack of interest in sex, also, insomnia. Can you help me with this?

I know that CELEXA is very SELECTIVE SSRI... it tries the best to affect SEROTONIN, not other neurotransmitters... like other SSRIs sometimes they mess with norepenphrine and dopamine even though they are SSRI..
