Post Any ideas or suggestions?

I had a mild stroke last Aug. which left some nerve damage in the left leg and arm. In Feb. of this year I started with stabbing pains and headaches and the numbness got worse. The Dr's put me on Coumadin 5mg daily.
now the headaches are back as is the stiff neck and with the slightest movement my heart rate seems to increase & breathing more rapidly which makes the headaches worse.
My blood pressure is 150/82 and heart rate normal. In addition to the Coumadin, I'm taking Cardizem CD 300mg daily, Diovan 80mg 2 times a day & Tricor 67mg once a day. I have had several MRI'S and CAT'S but the Dr's are uuable to pinpoint the area of the stroke but that it was deep in the right side of the brain. Also I have fluid retention in my lower legs. My ankles swell up like tennis balls at the end of the day. Would like to hear from anyone with ideas or suggestions. Thanks

You might ask your physician about a mild anti-depressant. Maybe your symptoms are stress related. I know how much worry accompanies a mild stroke (when will a big one occur?)

When I first got out of rehab, in January of 2000, I also had a very stiff neck. My occupational therapist or physical therapist gave me some exercises to do that helped my neck get better. To this day, we don't know what caused my neck to become stiff. I think it had something to do with staying in the hospital bed, and not moving my neck a lot. Now, my neck is just fine, and it doesn't hurt when I turn my head.

It's obvious that when I first replied, that I didn't read your entire message. After my stroke, my parents said that my legs were so swollen that the people at the hospital had to cut the support pantyhose off of me. I now wear support pantyhose to prevent future swelling. Do you know what caused your swelling?

No the Drs. dont seem to have any ideas. My heart and circulation are good. I think I'm going to go to Emory and have them check me over. It's been 7 mths. since the stroke and I didn't have the headaches and swelling until right before I went back in to the hospital in Jan./Feb. and they put me on Coumadin. All the Drs. say to just keep taking Lasix for the water.
