Was it a tia Stroke? HELP!

This Sunday morning,about 4:30,I was awaken with the left side of my head feeling very numb and when I sat up in bed,my forehead and the whole left side of my head felt like it was burning on fire, then I laid back down and it subsided. I am only 48 yrs.old female,I do smoke, could anyone tell me if this was anything to be worried about,like a mini stroke? I have a normal very low blood pressure. I just went through back surgery 8 wks ago, could this be the cause or am I worried about an isolated episode? Please help, should I go to the emg.room hosp.? Thanks, Doris
