Post Perm after stroke?

I have a question for any of you that have had your hair permed or treated with some other chemicals after your stroke. What I'd like to know is how did your hair handle the perm? My mom and I think that the perm could make my hair fall out even more. Because of the medications, most of my hair has already fallen out. I remember at the last rehab place I was at, they had a beauty shop in it. Maybe, I should go back there and see what the lady thinks, or let her perm or do something to my hair. All I know is, my hair hasn't been permed since before my stroke, which was in September 1999. My hair is really starting to look bad and I think that getting a perm might help it look better. By the way, I am black and a perm straightens my hair. I don't really feel like getting my hair pressed/straightened all the time. My main doctor is white, so my mom doesn't think she can help us, because she might not be able to understand my hair or my perm. Anyway, if you have had a perm after your stroke, or know something about chemically treating hair after a stroke, please reply to this message, because I really need information, due to the fact that summer's almost here, and I intend to have my hair looking better, then.

Since the summer is here, and I'm going out of town for the next holiday (which is in 2 days) I let my sister perm my hair last night. We just went to the local discount store and bought a perm for children. Just in case my hair was to weak for the perm, she just permed the hair towards the back of my head (so, if my hair fell out, it would be easier to hide). She followed the directions that the box gave, and when she finished, my hair looked much better, and didn't fall out, etc. The box says that we can re-perm the hair in 6 weeks, so that's when she'll perm the hair at the front of my head.
