Post stroke caused by binge drinking

I have recently heard that binge drinking can cause a stroke. Has anyone heard of this? Why havent I seen it listed as a cause before?

In this link, they mention that drinking causes strokes, especially in the young and men. http://news.bbc.co.uk/low/english/health/newsid_377000/377381.stm

Drinking can cause stroke...

This past Thursday 9/18/03 one of my dearest and closest friends 22 year old son died of a stroke after a night of heavy drinking with his friends.

Doctors explained that alcohol caused his breathing to become very shallow while sleeping, so shallow that his blood and brain were not getting enough oxygen bringing about the stroke that killed him while sleeping.

Very, Very sad indeed. He was a great kid, in excellent health. Athletic, worked out and played sports. He was a handsome guy with a great outgoing personality.

He will be missed to the core by his 3 brothers, proud mom and dad and us, his friends. God Bless U Stevie.
