The simplest explanation I've found about how our sinuses are affected came from a Swedish Univ. research report:
With all of the muscles of mastication so very dependent on each other and the intracasies of the neural network, anyone with TMJD would most likely suffer some form of sinus cavity abnormality.
In short, the neurotransmitters do not send the correct signals or the signals get blocked and the sinuses do not drain properly. This causes sinus pain, problems and congestion.
Also, I've noticed in the past few years, some Doctors now list sinus problems as a symtom of TMJD.
