Have you had sinus surgery? - Sinus Problems Message Board

I would appreciate hearing from persons having had sinus surgery --- both pro and con. What was your results? Would you recommend the procedure? Any special considerations that you recommend? Any bad outcomes? Was your surgery traditional or FESS?

I am faced with the decision of pursuing this option to deal with chronic sinusitis with attendant heachaches, periodic bronchitis, fog, malaise, etc. I don't want to go through a painful and risky procedure (not to mention expensive) only to be unhelped or worse off than before.

Naturalpathic... been there done that.
Dietary strategies... been there done that.

I had surgery and I actually have so far been very happy with the outcome. I'd 'been there, done that' with just about everything and nothing helped. I had endoscopic sinus surgery; polypectomy/septoplasty/ethmoidectomy.It wasn't a cure-all, but it took care of about 95% of the problem. I still can't keep sinus infection away without irrigating everyday (am still working on figuring that one out) but I wouldn't even notice the symptoms if I weren't constantly on the lookout for them. They are so mild and completely tollerable compared to what they used to be. The hardest part of the surgery for me was getting over the anesthesia and pain medicine. I'm really small and it knocked me out so hard I barely remember anything that happened for 4 days afterward. Basically, I used to fantasize about putting a bullet in my face and now...jeeze..can't believe I was that person! The problems I have now don't rule my life and I'm optimistic that they'll be gone one day!

Oh yeah..and it'll be 2 years in April since surgery
