Exhausted, dry mouthed, sinus problems - help - Sinus Problems Message Board

Hi,

I've had a horrible sinus infection since November and antibiotics did nothing for me. The docotors I have seen in San Francisco, New York and Europe (I've been moving around a lot)can offer no solution and it seems like they don't take me seriously, but I can't believe nothing can be done. I've had blood tests done for every disease know to humanity, but all came out clear.

So here's how I feel...pretty much constantly...
Soooo fatiqued to the point where I sometimes can't walk more than 2 blocks, foggy head whereby I can't concentrate in work and forget what I'm doing, heavy sinus feelings under my eyes and on forehead. General malaise which feels like the flu, but isn't. I was on flonase for over a year, but it didn't assuage the tired, flu feeling.

One odd thing is that prior to November I never had any sinus infections or sinus pressure, but for years before that I've had the other "cloudy head, exhausted" feelings every other week or so.
Sometimes I think it's office air that's harming me, or the immunization I was given before travelling to Thailand on holiday about 6 years ago that might have thrown my body out of whack (although I didn't have a bad reaction to the injection at all.

I am in really good shape, 5'10", 148 lbs, eat high protein foods, and as little fat as possible.
It's weird that even though I am so exhausted, I can drag myself to the gym and work out, but I'm worried that this is making me worse in the longterm...any ideas here?

Is this something I'll have to put up with for the rest of my life? Anything I can take to alleviate it?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Did any of those doctors check your thyroid?

Yes, I got an all clear on thyroid, mono etc. I'm pretty sure it's sinus related...because it would just be too odd that every time I feel sinus pain I get all the other symptoms. One really strange thing is that if I drink about 5 whiskeys it seems to knock the flu feeling out of my system the day after and usually for a few weeks following that...but obviously, I don't want to be doing that too much.

You described me exactly. We are twins.

I hope you get all that stuff figured out. What do you take to clear your sinuses? Have you ever tried mucus thinners like mucinex? I currently use clarinex, mucinex, and rhinocort aqua nasal spray.

Im 23 and am going through so much crap. personaly I think I still have an infection in my upper sinuses. Im gonna see my doctor again soon and see what he says.

Try a nasal irrigator, a plastic syringe 60CC. I use 1/2 tsp sea salt non-iodized & 1/4 tsp of baking soda to 2 cups of purified warm water. Irrigate wach side until both cups are used. I use it twice a day, once in the morning and at nite, but each person is different. Fantastic results. May slow going at first as you have to clear that junk out.
I use it to stop my food allergies to dairy, coffee, and chicken, almost eliminates sneezing & running nose, cleared up a persistant skin rash, irritability and anxiety attacks have gone away and finally has stopped red flushed face and chest. Good luck.
