Anyone had a sinus infection while pregnant?

I feel like I am getting one. I have a call into my OB, but I figured I would check with you guys while I wait. I just wondered what they did for you. I wasn't sure if I would be able to take antibotics. I don't want to waste a trip to the Dr. (General Pratitioner) if they won't give me anything and tell me to take Tylnol cold and sinus. I am 21 weeks pregnant.

Re: Anyone had a sinus infection while pregnant?

Teresea--I'm sorry your not feeling well. I had a sinus infection that turned into ear infection when I was like 14w, and I got amoxicillin from my dr. I think that is safe to take. Also my dr. told me I could take regular actifed. Good luck, hope you feel better soon.

Re: Anyone had a sinus infection while pregnant?

When I was pregnant with my son back in 1996 I got a sinus infection about 6 months pregnant. I was horrible, My Dr. wouldn't allow me to take anything for it. I gave birth and Dr. told me not to take anything til I was done breast feeding, that was 4 months later. I had horrible sinus headaches from about 7 months pregnant on. It took 5 years before my Dr. finally put me on an antibiotic for 3 weeks straight, 2000 mg a day. That is when I finally got rid of that horrible sinus infection. I was on and off antibiotic through out the 5 years, but not long enough and not a high enough dosage to completely get rid of the sinus infection. I have now been sinus infection free for 2 years now.

Good luck I hope your Dr.'s will allow you to have something for your sinus infection.

Re: Anyone had a sinus infection while pregnant?

I got bronchitis and a sinus infection while pregnant. Went to a regular family practiioner. Was given Amoxicilan, told to take sudafed, I could have tylenol, an expectorant and afrin nasal spray. I'd go to the doctor. Might as well be comfortable.
