a while back i had stuffy sinuses and a headache all the time. i went to the ent and he gave me some allergy meds, and i felt better. now i feel exactly the same. i'm going in for a sinus ct scan and my dr. said she thinks my sinuses might need to be drained. my symptoms are pressure in my temples, under my eyes, above my eyes. stuffy nose but it doesn't run. pains in my head. constant headache that won't go away. the sinuses in my face are swollen. has anyone ever had this, and what did you do? thanks.

Yes, I have it right now. In my case, it appears to be inflammed sinus tissue, but not an infection. Nevertheless, it makes me dizzy and gives me headaches. Basically a constant pressure feeling, like being in an airplane.

This symptom can also be caused by bacterial sinusitis (sinus infection), or even really bad allergies.

Go get a CT scan done, or have an endoscopy done. This should tell the doctors if you are suffering from an infection of some sort.

Try irrigating.

Are you still on the allergy meds and now you're not feeling any better or did you stop taking them...I can't tell from your post.

What medicines are you on now?

I've tried just about everything; Singulair (doesn't seem to do anything), Zyrtec (just makes me tired), and Claratin (nothing). Rhinocort did very little. Flonase irritated my nose.

I took some Alleve Sinus today, that helped a little bit.

The best course of action is irrigation using a machine, guaifensin, and Astelin nasal spray.

Hey there!

can I jump in and ask Chiggins how you deal with the dizziness and pressure all the time!? That's exactly how I feel! I've been to so many doctors about it and almost all of them wanted to diagnose me with anxiety, even though I had the dizziness pretty much all day every day (??). When they finally scanned my sinuses (due to my insistence that the pain was coming from that area the most) they found that I had severely allergic sinuses that were all inflamed (but not infected), Therefore the only thing I could do was go on a course of prednisone and antihistamines to relieve it. The prednisone was amazing but now they can't give me anymore and I don't do well on pseudoephedrine so I basically take Claratyne (that's what it's called in Australia) every day and have no idea whether it's making a difference or not. I guess as I live in Australia our medications may differ but can you suggest anything? I irrigate with salt water every night and use rhinocort which helps but nothing gets rid of the dizziness!!
