| Re: Severe Sinus Problems
Amoxicillan won't take care of a severe sinus infection, only a minor one.
If the antibiotic doesn't do anything for you, you may want to have a CT Scan of your sinuses to make sure there is no structural problem, such as a deviated septum, that is causing blockage and infection. Do you live in England? I'm not sure how easy it is to get the test done there -I frequently hear horror stories about 6 month waiting lists...
But what you can do in the meantime, is start an irrigation routine. Click on my username and go to "show all posts by this user". A while back, I posted something like "the art of sinus management" where I list a whole range of things you can do, and medications you can take to alleviate your sinus problems.
Unless you have a bad structural problem, irrigation with distilled water, 3ml of hydrogen peroxide, Zyletol, and 10ml of Alkalol will get rid of virtually any sinus infection. I've successfully gotten rid of a pretty nasty infection this year, just through irrigation, and no antibiotics.
And yes, these infections are awful. I was dizzy, had headaches around the clock, I thought I had a brain tumor -it was awful.
