Allergic Sinusitis - Sinus Problems Message Board

Hello all. I am new to this board but have been known to frequent the 'high cholesterol' & 'high blood pressure' boards now and then.
I would like to know if anyone has advice for a natural supplement(s) that might help my wife with her chronic sinusitis and allergy condition. She has already been thru the allergy shot routine and made it pretty far until she felt dizzy and lethargic. She consequently stopped any further shots and now just uses prescriptuion stuff like Flonase, Astilin and so on. She gets a nasal infection several times a year and it gets messy at times. Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

See an ENT.. medications natural or prescription only treat the symptons, if she has engorged turbonide membranes of a sinus structure issue, an ENT is you only chance at relief.

It was what I had to do and I had to fight my insurance to let me have it.. what did I have done?
I had to have a complete endoscopic sinus surgery (the absolute sinus roto-rootering).
1) It involved removal of my turbonides (reactive membranes in the frontal and maxillary sinuses) to 49% of my original mass.
2) Insertion of windows (drainage holes punched) into my frontal and maxillary sinuses allowing drainage from my large sinus cavities down the back of my throat.
3) My sinus passages widened (minor septoplasty).
4) Holes were punched through my frontal sinus cavity into my ethnoid cavity.. my ethnoid cavity was completely cleared out of all membrane and retained infectious goo..
5) Holes were punched in the back of my ethnoid sinuses to my very back sinus cavity which was complete evacuated as well..
6) Bonus.. my still existant adnoids and tonsils were removed as well.

Humm that looks horrible when I read over it..
Anyway results?
I have been sinus infection free for 6 months. Before I was on antibiotic every month for reoccuring sinus infections. I can breathe through my nose.. my sinuses actualy drain down the back of my throat when active now... AND NO MORE HEAD ACHES. Pain from the sinus surgery.. a head ache; the T&A (tonsillectomy and adnoidectomy) OUCH!
The worse was no packing could be applied so I had to keep my head up or.. well the drainage during recovering and nose bleeds was gross.

Now I am off steriodal nasal sprays and the max daily allowance of decongestants and only have too take zyrtec and singular in conjunction with saline nasal spray and oil. Now my allergies are under control.

I no of no natural remedy that will help and after living with chronic sinusttus and sinus infections 9 months out of every year.. I tried them all.

All I have to say at this moment is WOW! I will check with our insurance company (Aetna) but I am not so sure my wife would be willing to go thru what you have described. I applaud you for your strength and courage.

It might be worth remembering that mkgbrook's case is a little unusual as he/she had a whole bunch of things done at the same time. I'd say its not normally like this for most who require surgery.

I had Endoscopic Sinus Surgery last week and it the most painful part was removing the plaster from my skin where they injected to put me asleepbefore the op. Seriously I'm not kidding. The packing in my nose came out painlessly the day after the op, and I only had a few specs of blood for an hour or so afterwards. Not a single nosebleed.

I'm the most squeamish person alive and can safely say that surgery itself is nothing to fear these days.

This is true.. a head ache and nasty drainage was the only side effect from the sinus surgery. My first sinus sugery was just a bilateral turboplasty. I was back up and functioning in a matter of hours. No recovery time at all.

What sucked was the tonsillectomy and adnoidectomy. There are minimal nerves in your sinus cavities as a result.. minimal pain results. If you have to be packed.. be sure to use your saline spray liberally and often.. dry packing removal hurts.. moist and carefully tended packing, comes right on out.
