Hiya all i'm really hoping someone can help me,about 4 yrs ago i got recuurant ear infections which caused hearing loss, and eustachian tube dysfunction, then i started getting sinus problems and had to have a septoplasty.,thats just a bit of background history for you.
Anyway i'm not sure if i have symptoms of a mild Tmj or just remaining issues with sinuses etc...so was wondering if someone could advise me please, heres a list of my symptoms
Tinnutis--Had this since recuurant ear infections
Sharp pain in ears occainsionly
Fullness in ears most time docs see nothing there, not sure if this is a symptom of my anxiety?
Neck pain--I have a slight buffalo hump
Shoulder pain--running from shoulder to shoulder only had this since buffalo hump
Migraines--moves around, but get these a lot around eyes, and behind right ear
Numbness/Slight pain below in front of ear and cheeks bones--Doc said at time of my op it wouldnt stop the facial pain so not sure if its sinus related.
Jaw grinds ever so slighty when i open my mouth wide
Jaw locks slighty if i open my mouth very wide or have it open for a long time.
Thanks so much for taking the time to read this and i look forward to your responses.
Hugs

Were you ever checked out by an ENT for the problems with your ears? Tests ran etc? I was checked out by 3 different ENT's who found nothing wrong, no fluid etc. This is a disease of elimination from what ive seen. I would look around in your area for TMJ specialists. There are usually a handful that people recommend - mainly ENT's because the interaction of the ear. You have a lot of the same symptoms i do, but you need to see a specialist to confirm it. I am pretty new as well to this, and no doubt wearing the orthotic and waiting it out is going to be a test of faith for me as well (and ive seen xrays of my jaw joints that are jammed). Hang in there but the best action i think is to be proactive and put a name to it.
Hiya Jim Yes i have had testing at ent and was diagnosed as having Eustachian Tube Dysfunction in my right ear, they also tell me that the ear fullness i feel is because my nose is congested and this in turn affects the ears(i know this did happen when i had my nose op so know it can do this)They also have said the Tinnutis is caused by my hearing loss.
I'm just not sure what to make of it all as if you clump them all together it poss looks like similar symptoms to TMJ,but i have no pain in my jaw or anything or if i'm worrying over nothing really.

Hi Danni,
I have a lot of the same symptoms as you without any jaw pain and have been diagnosed w/ TMJ - it seems like for certain people the problmes are more muscular. I've read many posts on various TMJ boards of people w/ TMJ without much jaw pain. While the explanations your ENT offers are plausible it doesn't hurt to ask for a recommendation to see a TMJ dentist.

In addition to the other recommendations made you may want to find a chiropractor - having a hump in the back of your neck indicates compression of the first 2 vertebrae there which can be caused by tmj or other problems, but cervical spine problems can often casue symptoms quite similar to tmj as well.
