Lightheaded And Weird Feelings...is It Sinus?

For 2 years now, I have been feeling strange. I start to feel lightheaded or just plain weird in my head....sometimes I feel pressure in my eyes, beneath my eyes, and my ears...sometimes I actually feel something move. I don't have alot of sneezing, no nasal drip, no stuffy nose. I do have allergies, though not severe...I have been using veramyst for the last 2 months..that seems to help with my seasonal allergies. However, all this other stuff causes me great anxiety. My doctor, whom I trust wholeheartedly, I feel that he thinks it is all anxiety, but I'm not so sure. My sinuses were x-rayed several months back and they were fine. He sent me to an ear specialist and that checked out fine, but I still tend to have ear pain, with no infections. I know why he thinks it's all anxiety and that is because I have told him of my fear of death ( this is a whole other issue and I have reasons for it ) so now I think he thinks I am just nuts...he has tried giving me Cymbalta, but I'm not going to take something like that. I'm not depressed and I don't get the anxiety until I start feeling weird. When I start to feel strange in my head, I do panic. I do well at controlling my panic attacks and I can usually talk myself out of it, but what is causing me too feel this way to begin with. Is it my sinus cavities? I swear I feel movement where my sinuses are located. People think I am crazy, but I am just very in tune with everything my body does and I notice more than some people. I sometimes hear a "rushing" noise in my ears that is also strange. Does anybody else have anything that sounds similiar?

Re: Lightheaded And Weird Feelings...is It Sinus?

Hi, there--just wanted to let you know that migraine can cause lots of weird head feelings, including dizziness and odd movement feelings, all without giving you a headache. Research "migraine associated vertigo" or "vestibular migraine" for more information. Some clues it might be migraine are a family history of migraine and feeling motion sickness as a child. Also, often people don't realize that their own headaches are indeed migraines...just not as bad as others have them.

Good luck!
Violet

Re: Lightheaded And Weird Feelings...is It Sinus?

Billie33,
I am new to this board. I usually a on the board for lung cancer, because I lost my mother, my best friend on 7/28/07. I just read your post. You sound just like me. I have allergies all year round and I always am stuffed up. I had 2 sinus surgeries, but they didn't reaaly help. I also took allergy shots years ago and I felt worse. My doctor has me on singulair, but that only helps with my asthma. I also have anxiety and I am taking medication for that. In 1991, I had ruptured my eardrum. I was flying home from vacation. I had water in my ear and when the plane landed my eardrum ruptured. Ever since that injury my ears have not been right. I also get this rushing in my ears when I yawn an when I burp. It is aweird feeling. I went to so many doctors and they really didn't find anything wrong except they said it could be my eustacian tubes being blocked. I have suffered with severe allergies since the mid 80's till now. I also have had asthma for about 4 years. It really stinks having this. Now I have had a cough for about 4 months and my doctor told me that it is acid reflux, so now I am on medication for that. Well I have to go now. Thanks for letting me write. Talk to you soon. Hi there.....sorry about your condition - having an MD not know what is wrong or help is really discomforting.......i have only one thing to add.... if you are a smoker......stop and the s/s (signs/symptoms) will disappear like magic....

Re: Lightheaded And Weird Feelings...is It Sinus?

Hi Billie

I just read your post and that is exactly what I have been dealing with for the last few months. How are you doing now? Is it still anxiety causing all these issues? Mine are exactly as you described and my dr. says anxiety as well. It is seriously causing me a lot of problems. Please let me know what is going on with you now. I am worried that these symptoms are of a major health problem. Thank You, ERika

Re: Lightheaded And Weird Feelings...is It Sinus?

I wouldnt take the anti-depressents. If you feel something isnt right you are probably right. My doctor also wanted to put me on anti-depressants. For the longest time something wasnt right with me. About a year ago i brought up asthma because I just felt i was getting very winded and no energy (i needed some kind of umpf and even a good diet wasnt doing it) He said no I didnt have it as i wasnt wheezing. I then went off on my own to an Allergist who did testing and pulmonary testing and turned out I did have asthma and at the time i saw her it was very bad. I was so so relieved to finally get a diagnosis. She is currrently working with me to get down to my problems. Funny thing is i told my primary doctor and hes trying to say "oh the testing equipment sometimes isnt reliable" dont think so as I was practically half dead. Thank god for this doctor. Also when i asked the allergist about the wheezing she told me "no you dont have to have wheezing to have asthma". Maybe go see an allergist who specializes in this type of thing, in the end im sure you will be glad that you did.

Re: Lightheaded And Weird Feelings...is It Sinus?

I had horrible acid reflux for a few years and was on medication twice a day and the medication only worked for a short time. I went on the Internet and found Digestinol, which is all natural and I am a new person.

About your head, I also have allergies and they can raise all sorts of Hell with one's head. They can effect your thinking, your vision, your balance and the list goes on and on and on. I have been to drs. and have gotten no place with them. Finally, went to the Chinese acupuncturist and she made me MUCH better. You may want to try that. Good luck and please let me know.
