Question tightness above adams apple, tingling, sinus drainage, glands feel funny?

Hi! I have a feeling of swollen glands, but have no pain. I have a feeling of tightness around my neck, in the in the area of my adams apple and above. it feels like I have on a turtleneck sweater that is way to tight or like someone is straggling me (but I have no breathing problems). Recently the feeling seems to radiate up to my jaw line and a nit above. I have no problems swallowing. I have more sinus draining in my throat than normal. On occasion (not often!), I cough up a white sticky mucus. I have no internal throat pain. It is all a sensation on the outer area and I have energy and feel fine. However, the constant abnormal feeling in my throat is bothersome since it is not normal. On occasion, I feel sinus pressure in my face but it is small compared to the feeling in my throat. This is the first mornign that I actually have a little pain in one side of my neck right above the adams apple.
My doctor has had me on antibiotics for sinusitis but it has not helped my neck area. My doctor suggested sudafed and also Claritin (thinking i had an allergy) but neither relieved any symptoms so I am considering that it is something else.
I had a CT scan of the soft tissue of my neck area and a scan of my Sinus but the results are not back yet. I am considering a ENT specialist?
I know this is lots of info but I am hoping someone may have some suggestions or similar symptoms that had a diagnosis?
thanks for reading my post!

I would definitely go to a ENT. Do you still have your tonsils? wondered if they might be enlarged?

Hi,foxy. I can relate to you 100% everything you tallk about is the exact same as me! I also get a bad taste at times in my throat but not always.Reading your post makes me feel a little relief that someone has the exact same symptoms. How long have you had this? Mine started in dec!sorry. It really freaks me out. I have been to ENT but they couldnt give me much answers. I do take an antihisamine daily and a nasal spray but no real anwers. My doctor is guessing at postnasal drip and/or sinuses-not much help though. Sorry I dont have the anwers but keep me posted with your progress and I will do the same.lol. I hope to be able to shed some light I keep researching every day.
lol and understanding girlie

Re: tightness above adams apple, tingling, sinus drainage, glands feel funny?

I have the same thing only mine also comes with sore thraot and bad breath.
I do everything take a decongestant, perform nasal rinsing, and steam my face over the stove in the morning but my problem persists. I have no idea why. I use a humidifier last night because I noticed my nose feels dry alot an it helped alot but I still get the tighted thraot feeling near my thyroid, its not my thyroid but it in that area. I also have lots of excessive mucus, it use to sit in my thraot but since I started taking the decongestant I don't have it as much anymore. I am also taking acid reflux meds, I am unsure if I have it to be nonest but my docotr thought since I didn't get better with the sinus meds that it was more than likely that. Have you guys figured anything out? Does anything help you all?

Re: tightness above adams apple, tingling, sinus drainage, glands feel funny?

I've had this for the past 2 years and have had numerous prescriptions for antibiotics. I was also using a nasal spray and antihistamines but to no avail. However, last week I saw a Doctor in our local surgery who specialises in ENT problems and had an endoscopic examination of my sinuses etc - not particularly pleasant but not as bad as I had imagined. He said it was all due to allergies and gave me some Flixonase Nasule Drops which are 4 times stronger than the nasal spray.

The tightness in my throat seemed to get worse after the first couple of uses but now after 2 weeks it definitely feels better. The post nasal drip has reduced and I'm not as congested as I was. The drops are a bit of a pain to use - your head needs to be practically upside down and then you have to use half of the contents of the small, plastic vial in each nostril - not easy when you can't see what you're doing! Hopefully it'll continue to get better over the next few weeks - I have to go back to see the Doctor at the end of September. Hope this helps.

You might try using a small mirror to help make sure the drops get where they need to go - it's a little tricky to hold the mirror and do the drops at the same time but you'll get used to it.
