Sinus infection causing "swaying" feeling? - Sinus Problems Message Board

I'm a healthy 27 year old female and have had several sinus infections throughout the past two years. ENT says there is nothing he can do about it - just flushing sinuses with warm salt water. With this last bout, I've experienced a "swaying" feeling. I'm not losing my balance or anything, but I just feel a little lightheaded. I'm thinking that I have fluid in my ears that is causing the feeling.
Has anyone else experienced this? How long before the sensation goes away and how did you clear it up?

I used to suffer similar problems. In the end it turned out that the infections and symptoms were linked to trapped water after swimming. Sounds like you need a new ENT specialist I was sent to a hospital where they used something similar to a vacuum cleaner to get the trapped liquid from behind the ears.

Diet can be a factor in sinusitis avoid dairy products salt and wheat. Tincture of elderflower can also help

ive got it, i had my ears syringed it did a bit of good but the slight 'wizziness' is still there. Ive been told if you have 'bad' sinuses, you'll get these feelings :-(

Sorry to hear about your problem...I feel your pain, literally. Sinus and ear problems are no fun!

The sinuses and ears are all linked together via the same plumbing. One's balance, and sense of equilibrium can be effected by a sinus infection or even bad allergies. For example, "Vertigo" is caused by inner ear problems and can really hamper a person's sense of balance and stability.

I would see another ENT, if nothing more than to rule out Vertigo and other possible issues. Your past history with sinus infections probably means that your sinuses don't drain and work properly. When moisture and etc. stays trapped in the sinuses, the area becomes a good breeding ground for bacteria. Some people are just more predisposed to these type of things than others, especially if one has moderate to severe allergies.
