I had an EKG done at work. I actually work on a cardiac stepdown floor at a hospital. I have noticed that for the last few months my HR stays between 115-140. Thats resting. I do not drink caffiene. And no, I dont take diet pills or any kind of stimulant. I am only 22 years old. Anyway, since my rate has been so high i did an EKG during my downtime today. I know you really need to see it to know anything, but this is what it said. HR-116(down from the norm) borderline EKG, sinus tachy and short PR
interval. the interval is 104ms. I believe they consider anything below 120ms short. I dont understand why my rate would stay up like that. Im sure it has something to do with stress, but I have no more than I ever have. Heart problems runs in my family..my mother started taking cardiac meds in her early 20s..beta blockers i am guessing. It just worries me because I have such a history or heart disease in my family. Yes, I know I need to go see an MD, but at the moment I am so low on funds, and my new insurance doesnt really pay anything, I have to put off going to a dr for now. I know really i need to have labs drawn and some other tests to diagnose the problems, but i just wanted to hear some opinions until i can go. I need to exercise, i used to but i havent in a year or two. im not overweight..around 143..actually about 15 pounds heavier than i was prior to nursing school. go figure. i have been having sereve insomnia the last few months as well. could my heart rate have anything to do with that? besides stress, i just dont see why my rate would stay so high at my age. any ideas?
