Is there a reason NeilMed sinus rinse makes me feel worse? - Sinus Problems Message Board

I swear, every time I do it, instead of feeling better, I feel more congested for hours later and have more facial pain and headache. Even so, my doctor has recommended that I use the rinse every day. Anyone else have this happen to them or know why that would be? My problems are more structural than allergic, so could that be the problem?btw I have enlarged turbinates, deviated septum and a nasal fracture.

Are you using it exactly as recommended with the blue packets? What type of water are you using?

Hi, I also had the same type of structural problems, and before I had surgery to correct them, when I rinsed with the Neilmed, I wouldn't drain for a while and I ended up feeling more stuffy or my ears would feel full.

I did switch to a neti pot using the neilmed packets and I found that more comfortable. I don't know why maybe less pressure.

I am now about a year after surgery and I still use the neti pot, and I find I drain better than before the surgery.

So if you have structural problems, does a rinse even work at all? Or is there just too much blockage to do any good?
