Cyst in sinus??? Dont understand..

Hello there, I just had a brain MRI done on Friday and my doctor called me today to tell me that everything was normal except for I still had some mild thicking in my max sinus and I have a cyst in my sinus. He said it is a benign condition and was in my cat scan that I had done not that long ago. He didnt say anything else about it and no one ever mentioned it being on my cat scan. Does anyone has this or know anything about it???

Thanks

Re: Cyst in sinus??? Dont understand..

Polyps are common in acute sinus infections. My nostrils were both blocked with polyps.
My Doc gave me antibiotics and now they are both open again. For how long, I don't know.

Sinus cysts are relatively common and don't necessarily need to be treated unless they are causing blockage or impeding the natural drainage pathways in your sinuses.

As long as the cyst isn't causing any issues there's no reason to be concerned about it.

Polyps and cysts are actually different. A polyp is fluid-filled sac that extends into the sinuses while a cyst is actually contained within the wall of the sinus.

Polyps are definitely problematic - and almost always have to be addressed medically or surgically so it's good to hear that yours have improved. Did your doctor give you a course of oral steroids to shrink the polyps? That generally is very effective (though they do tend to recur).
