Lump in left maxillary sinus... what could it be?

For the past three days it has felt like someone punched me just under my left eye (where my maxillary sinus cavity is) and I've been having frequent headaches. This morning it was particularly painful and I was feeling around in that area and found a bulge that is painful when touched. You can't see it from looking at my face, but you can feel it with your fingers. I've never experieced anything like this before. Any thoughts on what this could be?

I should also mention that about a week and a half ago I came down with some type of a cold / sinus thing, but it has cleared up for the most part. Could it be related? I'll probably call and schedule an appt. with an ENT but just thought I'd post here to see what others thought.

Thanks in advance for any replies!
