Question Could all of this be sinus related?

Hi people :-)

I have (among other things) Chronic Sinusitis, Allergic Rhinitis and a Deviated Septum (left side). I have noticed that when my sinuses get really clogged due to the high pollen count (or other factors) that I get this very intense loopy, foggy, "pressure" sensation in my head as if I was in a daze and can't think clearly. At times it feels like my brain is scrambled and my eyes get really buggy and unfocused.

It was like this for months during the severe allergy season we just came through and then let up for a little while but just recently I fogged a room (roaches) and once again my allergies began acting up again because of the chemicals. For the last 3 days I've had this horrible foggy, loopy, fuzzy, "pressure" feeling in my head along with buggy vision and just this afternoon (sorry to be so graphic) I could feel huge globs of mucous draining down from my sinuses and gradually all the fuzzy, foggy, loopy, "pressure" feelings in my head began to go away.

My question is this...does any of this sound familiar?. Is all of what I've described here pretty normal for someone with sinus problems?. I mean, the triggers, the way the symptoms develop/resolve with drainage, etc.

- Thanks, Steve

Re: Could all of this be sinus related?

Sounds like a sinus infection to me. Pressure, eyes bugging out, foggy feeling, I have trouble focusing, then the green/yellow, thick drainage. Lovely. Sometimes I would have vertigo too. Face feels swollen and hot, especially above my cheek bones.
Are you bombing for roaches as a part of your job or in your home? I am severely allergic to roaches and that will trigger a sinus infection among other things. I used to work in a building that was infested and I was sick/congested all the time. My allergist told me that you become more allergic to them depending on how much exposure you have to them.

Re: Could all of this be sinus related?

Thanks very much for your reply!. Well, the intense (and very severe) brain fog finally lifted yesterday but I laid with my back up against the arm of the chair while watching TV for several hours last night and so before going to bed and all day today my upper back has felt like someone punched me in it along with periods of shortness of breath, continuing strange feelings/sensations in my head and last night I was laying there trying to fall asleep on my side when all of a sudden it felt like my entire body shifted/moved an inch or two over on the bed. Very strange and scary!. Also, a feeling of tightness around my throat (like someone was slightly squeezing it with their hand whenever I'd swallow).

I have anxiety, sinus issues and cervical arthritis (among several other things) and I don't know if all of this is being caused by all of these things, a combination of one or two or what's going on. Seen scores of doctors over the years...tests...etc. Feel like I'm just doomed and dying sometimes )-:

Re: Could all of this be sinus related?

That sounds terrible. I can understand why that feeling would make you anxious! When I have a bad sinus infection, I get those shift in position feelings occasionally. And loose my balance a little. Fwiw, I have acid reflux which gives me a tight feeling in my throat, shortness of breath, and difficulty swallowing. I did not realize I had acid reflux so bad until I had chronic sinus infections. The ENT said that there is such as thing as silent reflux that happens while you are asleep, causing sinus problems among other things. I just was thinking about that in reference to your throat symptoms. I hope you feel better and your back recovers. If I were you, I'd visit the doctor about that sinus stuff. Last thing you need is an ear infection or a raging fever. :-/
