I am seeing an ENT tomorrow as my internist referred me based on the results of my sinus ct. The scan showed moderate inflamation (obviously I'm paraphrasing!) and inspissated mucus with blockage in both Maxillary sinuses. What can I expect at the ENT tomorrow? Would he begin with an endoscope or would he want more imaging tests?
It's almost guaranteed that the ENT will perform an endoscopic exam using a flexible or rigid scope (and will numb your nasal passage first so you don't feel much). If you've already had a CT scan, be sure the ENT has those results as well.
The endoscopic exam is no big deal. It's an odd sensation but isn't painful.

Thanks! You are right, that's exactly what he did. It was a fascinating visit with the good news that things don't look too bad!
Tomorrow is allergy testing to see if that's the cause of the blockage. I live with 3 dogs and 2 cats. You want to bet "pet dander" reacts on the test???
