Hello there, so did your son end up needing the balloon sinuplasty or not?

Oh sorry i did not look at the time and date of your post... Well please let us know how it all goes and wishing you the best of luck.

Balloon sinuplasty is a very good surgery and it has minimum complications and many people say that it is a good way to relieve a blocked sinus. Another good thing about it is that it is not like traditional surgery that involves needles and tranquilizers rather it is quick and effective.

Re: balloon sinus.surgery?

The pain from a balloon sinuplasty is pretty minimal but "normal activities" after one day for a 14-year old boy may be pushing things a little bit if he's a typically active 14-year old boy (it's very unlikely that he'll be able to participate in any type of sports for a few days).

Generally balloon sinuplasty does require anesthesia or sedation of some type because the procedure is very uncomfortable (and requires the insertion of multiple endoscopic instruments into the nose which makes most people VERY uncomfortable). Depending on the type of sedation, he'll probably be home within a few hours after the surgery with minimal discomfort.

Usually he'll need to take it easy for the rest of the day, and may have some bleeding for 24 hours or so, but there generally isn't any significant pain.

Re: balloon sinus.surgery?

Thanks for asking. He is.sched for Nov 20th for both the sinuplasty with balloon & deviated septum. If this doesn't work.then in March he will.have to.have traditional sinus surgery. He is looking.forward to.hopefully feeling better and will recover over Thanksgiving break so.he will only miss one day of real classes.
