| Re: Daily sinus headache
I agree about the antibiotics, but they need to be the right antibiotics. My first CT scan also supposedly showed nothing, and I had no discoloured discharge, but pain continued. I had 7-10 days amoxicillin and 3 weeks after that my second CT scan showed sphenoid sinus infection. Peroxide flooding unblocked the tubes and the infected gunk started to come out. I have since been on Doxycycline (10 days) and Keflex (7 days) neither touched the infection, it actually got worse. Then 7 days of clarithromycin which started to clear the infection, but didn't get rid of it completely. A different doctor now ordered a culture and put me on two weeks of Augmentin...I think the infection is getting worse again (not surprising as Augmentin is mainly amoxicillin, which didn't work first time round!)
My problem is getting to see a doctor in the first place, and when I can get an appointment, it is never the same doctor. ENT specialist has a six week waiting list and won't do emergency appointments.
I would definitely suggest flushing your sinuses with saline/bicarbonate and trying peroxide flushing to unblock any blocked tubes.
It is an awful condition to live with, so I know how you feel.
