Chronic sinusitis, sore throat for months..nose not blocked??
hello again, I have had a sore throat, sometimes mild sometimes bad, for over a year. My GP treated it with anti-biotics 6 times, but it kept coming back. An ENT doc finally diagniosed chronic sinusits 4 weeks ago, wanted to operate my sinuses asap to clear them as a CT showed they are infected and full of mucous. I saw a second doctor who has put me on Triamcinolone plus neomycin nose drops- cortisone and an antibiotic. I used them for 3 weeks, saw him again, he said the sinuses had improved, I should use half the dosage and come back in 2 months. An operation would not necessarily improve matters he said, and was usually carried out for people with recurring sinusitis problems, too narrow sinuses etc not just to clear them. My throat is very sore, red with white spots at the moment - I assume PND causes this as well as the slightly salty taste in my mouth.. I use an infra red lamp, do nasal rinses and inhale with eucalyptus. I DON'T have a blocked nose or headaches any more - but the sore throat is constant. Has anyone else got similar symptoms, how did you deal with it, and how and when did you get rid of it??
