I had a little dental work done a few days ago, and ever since my mouth is watering and I have a very salty taste. I am not tasting food right anymore either. Have any of you ever experienced this saltiness? I called the dentist and he said there was no reason for it as far as the work he did.
Yes it can be. It's a sign your saliva is highly concentrated.
Sometimes if you pass a salivary gland stone you'll get a backwash of saliva that's very salty. An infected saliva gland, dehydration, postnasal drip and some medications (chemo, anti-thyroid) can cause saltiness too.
Thank you for the reply Its strange because I have the symptoms of sjogrens, but the bloodwork is coming back negative. I had the dr. due the bl work twice, and he said this time my sed rate is up, but no sjogrens. My mouth has been so dry except for now with the salty taste, and my eyes are like sandpaper. So hard to know I guess.
Thanks again for replying I think I have a good dr. He is a rheum., the only one in town I had the Schermer test about 6 months ago and the numbers were 7 and 10. But of course it is much worse now. I haven't had any biopsies. And the only thing elevated in bloodwork was the sed rate and the auto lymph. I see my dentist in about two weeks, so maybe we should have a talk. Take care
