Have To Return To Work!!

Because of a change in my financial situation, I have to return to work in spite of severe Sjogren's symptoms. I have applied for SS disability but even that will not provide enough income, and I have heard it is very difficult to get approved. Has anyone else had to work with the various Sjogren's symptoms including a complete lack of saliva, loss of taste, brain fog, and incredible chronic tiredness? I am scared that I won't be able to do it! Thanks for any advice.

Hello ~ ~ Claresparkle ~ ~

I'm sorry to read that you have Sjogrens. Be not discouraged by what you've heard about the difficulty in getting approved for disablilty. In your post you wrote, you applied for SS. That's the beginning of the process. Ask yourself, was that difficult ? As far a difficulty ~ that's in the eye of the beholder. It's definatley not like applying for a job or Credit Card. Burden of proof lies with you.
I have good days and not so good days with work. The good outway the not so.
In applying for an employment opp. Evaluate what would be the best senerio for you physically. Like ~ talking on the phone for lengths of time could be difficult with the dry mouth. It would be learning the tips to help with keeping the mouth moist.. for me, having a bit of licorice tea, or lozenger type assist. Makes it slickery...of course H20 Just an idea.
You maybe going back to where you were previously. I'm not familiar with your responsibilities to assist with ideas to help.
There isn't a day that goes by that I don't hear in conversation or read about Brain Fog, Air between the ears, I'm not connected - my brain is spaced.
There really are a lot of people who go through what is known as Brain Fog and don't have sjogrens. It's part of life in general. Do your best, and go with the flow, trying not to dwell on what you may have missed.

Not trying is more failure than trying and finding out it's not conducive.

Success, is a state of mind !

Re: Have To Return To Work!!

Thank you for responding. I have read your reply once and will do so again when I have more time. I have already started transitioning in my head to thinking of myself as a working person not as a sick person who can't work. I should hear about the SS disability in about a month according to them. I am trying to think of what to do if I should get approved and what to do if I don't. Either way I have to have some more income. I am trying to remain positive and open to what the universe has in store for me next. More later...
