Is this a symptom?

I was wondering if hair loss, from the scalp, is a symptom of Sjogren's?

Re: Is this a symptom?

No, hair loss is not a symptom. However, perhaps a medication you are taking could be causing hair loss. I would say the hair loss is most likely a symptom or result of something else. searchin

Re: Is this a symptom?

Yes,

Some people lose hair from Plaquenil or Methotrexate or another autoimmune disease like Lupus. Your doctor will want to know if it is coming out in patches or diffusely. That helps them to determine what might be going on. Hope you can get some answers soon.

Re: Is this a symptom?

Thank you but I don't have much hope. I've been searching for about ten years now for an answer. Symptoms are just getting worse.

I don't know for sure that hair loss is a symptom of Sjogren's. However, I am now having a bit of loss and I did read in a great book that I ordered from the association that it is a symptom of it. The dryness affects the hair as it does every other part of the body. As far as I am concerned I am taking the precaution of moisturing my hair more frequently as I wash it every day when I shower and using a less hot heat drying it with the hair dryer. I think anything we can do to help keep the moisture we have is a very good thing. I find it so amazing that we all have different symptoms from another and that ours changes from time to time. Mine are more serious now and I find that I can't put off attending to them now where for years I could. I wish you the best as you figure out this puzzling disease. cbg10
