Any advice about Sjogrens and surgery?

Hi all,

In March I am going in for surgery to repair torn cartilige in my hip. I'm concerned because hospitals are so dry and all my symptoms flair up when I'm there. I also have Raynauds Phenomenon. I spoke with the surgeon and he is going to alert the anesthesiologist about my Sjogrens.

Any advice?

Thank you!

Angie

Re: Any advice about Sjogrens and surgery?

Did some reading on this before. You are to tell all doctors you have Sjogrens, the anasthesiologist will add something to it that will keep you moist. Everyone should know that is involved in your surgery because you are right hospitals are dry and they need to know this to make it more bearable. Wish I would have had the diagnosis before I had spinal surgery last May. The itching scar was unbearable until I went on Plaq. which I just started and the itching disappeared finally. It was a burning and itching pain. Very uncomfortable. So, yes, be wise tell them or educate them if you have to. Good Luck. Hope the outcome is a swift recovery.
