Short answer, no. A hysterectomy does not cause Sjogren's. Sjogren's is an autoimmune disease that men get too.

Re: Hysterectemy/sjogrens link???

Hi RAQQ
Just read your post (a long time after you posted). I just wanted to let you know that I first became more aware of my symptoms after I had my hysterectomy. That was 12 years ago. From what I understand, it is possible that the loss of hormones triggered the onset or caused more severe symptoms of an autoimmune disease. I began to notice the dry eyes (or an extreme discomfort) at that time and it went from mild to pretty severe now. I am 61 and have not yet been diagnosed. I have wondered why I had so many symptoms and some people attributed it to my getting older. I really didn't believe that was the only reason all these things could be happening because I felt I had aged gracefully (until the last couple years whatever it is has progressed more rapidly). I would suggest you take a supplement to balance your hormones as I have read it can worsen. I hope this was helpful and I wish you the best of luck.
