Newly diagnosed with Sjogren's

Hello!

Earlier this week, my rheumy diagnosed me with Sjogren's. This diagnosis has been a long, tough road, and I'm just glad to finally have some answers! I was actually quite surprised with the diagnosis. We knew I had an autoimmune disorder, but I just recently found out I had dry eyes - I had no idea - my only symptoms were blurry vision and photosensitivity.

But, I wanted to put this out here and see if anyone has some tips/suggestions for me. What are some things I should look out for as I learn about Sjogrens and how it affects my body? Like, it all my jaw pain related? Are there any symptoms for organ involvement that I should keep an eye on?

Thanks so much for your time and help!

Re: Newly diagnosed with Sjogren's

How did you find out that you have dry eye? I'm in the same boat where I feel like my vision is sometimes blurry but I tend to notice it more when I'm tired. Just wondering if I need to visit an eye doctor to have this tested.

Re: Newly diagnosed with Sjogren's

Three very good sources of information:

Sjogren's Syndrome Foundation
The Mayo Clinic
Medifocus Guidebook on: Sjogren's Syndrome (of the three, this is the best and most information) there is a fee for this one.

I have been diagnosed for a little over two years. Various symptoms come and go. It is a very strange condition.

Good luck to you.

Re: Newly diagnosed with Sjogren's

Blessedx4 - I found out I had dry eye by just going to my optometrist for my yearly visit. I told him that some days my vision goes blurry and stays that way all day. My vision hadn't changed enough, and he knew I had some kind of autoimmune, so he wanted to do a test. He put some drops in my eyes (I think it was dye) and then looked at it with a light. He said they were as dry as the Sahara desert! I was floored! They never bothered me except for the blurriness. Now, though, I think my photosensitivity was due to my dry eye, too.
Good luck to you!
