cartilge piercing is infected - Skin Problems Message Board

I just got the middle of my ear in the cartilge done a few days ago and the right side is fine but the left is swollen and HURTS!!! I sleep on that side, but I've been trying not to. Do you think this is why? I have 12 holes in my ears alltogether, and the ONLY one that has ever gotten infected was my top left, i had hair wound around it

nevermind I have to take it out, its swollen WAY TO BADLY, I hope it comes out *knows this is gonna hurt*

its still swollen after I took it out, did I do the right thing?

You should never remove an infected piercing. I'm sorry I didn't see this post until after you removed it. but for future reference, never ever ever remove an infected piercing, because the hole will close around the infection. the best thing to do is soak it in a light saline solution (warm water and sea salt) nightly, and KEEP YOUR HANDS OFF.

ok, thx, I know that you aren't supposed to, but it was swollen so much you could barly (sp?) see the earring. Its still kinda swollen but its better. Again, thx!!! I'll probably get it redone in a few months. or maybe my nose hmm
