Wink Bizarre eylid wrinkle....let me explain

Hi,

On one of my elylids I have a fold in the skin, a wrinkle I suppose. This wrinkle is between where the skin folds naturaly when the eye opens and where the eyelashes grow from. (V hard to explain)
Anyway, the result is when my eye opens the skin folds on this "wrinkle" as opposed to where it should do. This looks like I've got a droopey eye.
I solve the problem when it happens by cutting a very small square of tape and sticking it over the fold stopping it happening.
Unforntuatly, occasionally people notice and are like "what IS that thing on your eye?". The same person hasn't seen it more than once yet but when that happens.... you can see where I'm going.

I didn't know who to ask since its really a cosmetic problem. So, I'm looking for like a skin harderner type thing. I dont mind applying the thing every so often but obviously Im not gonna whack super glue on my eyelid. Can anybody give advice? I was thinking prehaps the more mature of the community might have come across a hopeful product.

Thanks for any replies in advance
ConquestZak

My mother has this and it is certainly a 'cosmetic' problem. As it becomes worse and inhibits your vision, it becomes a 'health' problem. Mom had cosmetic surgery on both her eyes to correct the problem, and her insurance paid for it. My 2nd sister also had to have this done - just so she could see. Mine are fast getting there -- It is an inherited problem in our family.

Hi marti,

Do you recommend going to the doctor now? I am far from needing surgery at the moment. Do you know if there is a treatment for 'ironing' the skin back to normal? or a product?
In your family are both eyes affected or just one like myself?

Thanks
Conquest

What we have is inherited in the family andit eventually blocks off the vision. What you might have is the same type of disease that Onasis had. I would see your doctor now before it gets any worse.

I don't know of a thing that will get rid of the extra skin fold, or shrink it or anything. I remember an old episode of 'Maude" where she used Preparation H to temporarily shrink the wrinkles around her eyes, but I wouldn't recommend it

Re: Bizarre eylid wrinkle....let me explain

I have had "baggy" eyelids since I was in early thirties.
Some people are just more likely to get them. If it gets to where it impairs your vision your insurance should pay for taking care of it. Unfortunately mine doesn't, so one of these days I'm going to have the surgery called "bleroplasty". (wrong spelling) It's where they make an incision in your eyelid and remove the excess fat and skin. It's not cheap, but as soon as I get the courage to do it, I will. I just hate to be cut on when not necessary.
