I will be getting another surgery on the 7th, a total thyroidectomy this time. I had a partial last time, and the scar is just a 4 inch straight line. It wouldn't be as noticable as it is, but I had a infection and the places it drained are still quite dark (almost black) and they really draw the eye in. Whats the best way to help with the scar tissue next time? And any ideas how to improve this one if they don't cut along the same place?

Jojoba oil and vitamin E oils. Mix 4oz. jojoba with 2oz. vitamin E and apply several times a day. You can apply this mixture to a fresh scar as soon as they remove the stitches. You can apply it to an 'old' scar as well and it will help to diminish the appearance. This mixture is quite 'oily' due to the consistency of the vitamin E, so don't apply too much at one time. Just a drop massaged into the scar will do perfectly fine.
