OK, since I'm sure you know that prolonged and continual sun exposure can cause skin cancer....I'll try to give a suggestion.

Firstly, there are awesome tans from a bottle...there are airbrush tans...etc. Those would be my suggestions.

As a redhead, your sun exposure will get you freckles for sure. If that's what you don't mind...there is a way you can get mild tanning.

You MUST use a sunscreen. There are spf preparations of 4,6,8,15,etc. They will all allow you to tan, just depends on the time allowed. Even the 30's will allow you to tan if you're out long enough continually.


Firstly, You should know how long it would take you to START to turn pink (burn). The # means it will protect you that many times longer than the time you will start to burn.

If you're out in the sun for any long period of time, lets say for a few hours, make sure you use something around 30. You still want to preserve your youthful skin, as well as not make the freckles you might have too much darker.

The same process will apply with a tanning bed. You should definitely use an spf.

So, now it's your job to do some phoning and see what the responses are from the tanning bed salons in your area. See what they suggest for you as a redhead who only wants a suggestion of colour.

A little colour does make one look better, but it can be achieved other ways.

Protect your skin for sure...for when damage is done, it's almost impossible to correct, and at times with serious consequences.
