Another Mole Removal Question - Skin Problems Message Board

I have been searching through these boards and i havent come across this question yet... Anyways i have this raised mole near my pubic area, and it looks really nasty. Its been there since i was a little kid (im 21 y/o male) and its becoming more and more of a nusiance..but I dont have medical insurance, or any money at all for that matter.. Ive read about bio-T and some castor oil/baking sodamixture , but i was wondering if anyone has actually tried physically removing it themselves with a scalpel? The mole itself feels very loose and it may be doable with some sort of anesthetic...im not terribly worried about it being cancerous since its been there soo long, and its not even noticable with my clothes on anyways, i just want it gone. just cuirious of what the results may be or if there s a chance of recurrence,etc. can someone recommend a good anestetic?

I wouldn't recommend removing it yourself. I've had several moles removed and they cost me on average about $40-50 each, depending on the size (of course the office visit was separate). The best thing to do is save your money and talk with your doctor. Most family doctors can remove them in their office. You don't want to risk getting an infection by doing it yourself.

No I wouldn't remove it myself either although I know how bad you would like to. I also have had a mole but this was on my face and I always felt the same way buy I finally got it taken of after many many years of hating it. I am glad I did I think anyway (we will see how it heals). The doctor told me that anything that you don't won't to grow back has to be cut out and not just cut off or it will grow right back. It only cost a $100.00 to get this done usually. Well worth the money I myself had no insurance either. They will test it to make sure it is not cancerous too. You better not chance doing it yourself it's so not worth it!!!

Thanks for replying...youre both right, it sounds like it would not be worth the risk of infection, and having it grow back would be a total waste of effort to begin with...i was under the impression it would be more expensive but $100 is a smoall price to pay...again thanks a lot you guys have been helpful.
