Pimple-like RASH???! - Skin Problems Message Board

I think I have acne on my back and chest, but I'm not so sure. I've had it for quite awhile now. It's usually a lot worse in the winter though. It's very dry and has a lot of white tiny bumps all over. It'll look like I have white goosebumps 24/7. When I scratch the area, it'll flare up bright red. It's sooo ITCHY though. My chest usually clears up in the summer, but some still lingers on my back. The reason I don't believe it's acne because when the red bumps disappears, it doesn't leave marks.

How can you distinguish between if it's really acne or just a rash/folliculitis problem???

I just recently developed the same problem. Initally I thought I had shingles because my rash is only on my left side starting from my shoulder going downward. It is most severe under my arm and and my whole left side of my stomach and hip area. I went to the doctor yesterday and he said I have Hot Tub Folliculitis. I do not have a hot tub or have I been in one for years. So I have no idea how this developed. I have been having problems with my immune system and I do have inverse psoriasis, but he said that has nothing to do with it. He gave me Ciprofloxacin to take for 10 days. If it does not go away I will need a biopsy. I am baffled and hope the antibiotics work. I will keep you posted.
