| Anyone Had Folliculitis?
I broke out with a pimply rash on my inner tighs, pubic, area, and buttocks about 5-6 weeks ago.They looked like pimples with white heads that really hurt. At first my doctor was saying it looked suspicious and had me tested for herpes. Well my test came back negative for hsv2, but i did test positive for hsv1. She explained that hsv1 is herpes above the waist and is now convinced its follicilitis. She put me on Keflex for 7 days.
I went and saw a dermotologist for a second opinion because I was told that you can Hsv1 below the waist from oral sex. He says it is not herpes and that it is Folliculitis. He said that my hsv1 test shows I did not get it recently and could of gotten it months or even years ago. He said that 50-80% adults test postive for HSV1. You can have it and have no symptoms. I have never had a cold sore, etc...
Anyways, Im wondering if anyone has had Follicilitis. I still have the bumps, but they are slowly going away. Now they dont look like whiteheads, but have crusted over and look like purplish scars, which the doctor says goes away eventually. The one on my shin went away completely. Does this sound like it? Anyone had similar symptoms? How long will it take to go away completely? Does it scar?
