Itchy upper back - Skin Problems Message Board

I have some type of rash or something,On my upper back!
It flairs up when weather is warm and humid,And it itches and
burns. it looks like scar or burnt skin tissue.

Me too lately..........I've been wondering the same thing, im so happy you posted...maybe someone has the answer, It seems too minor to go to the doc! It's my upper back and shoulder's, and the humidity has been HORRIBLE!!!! I'm not used to the humidity, and it may also be allergies......i dont know??????

Hey there

This sounds like something I have too...I have a kinda dull red rash across the whole of my upper back and it especially flares up in hot weather or if I get nervous or flustered. I went to the dermotologist about it last week actually, they were rubbish

but I had a look online and I reckon it's something called keratosis pilaris. This is the same thing that causes little bumps on people's upper arms. If this is what it is with you guys it's genetic and there isn't any treatment for it, but apparently it's worse in adolescence and gets better and often clears up in adulthood. Sunlight helps it and exfoliating regularly will help too.

I've had a minor itchy back for several years. In the past it only bothered me in the winter. But this year it is much worse and it doesn't go away, so bad that it wakes me at night. The skin is not red. It's in the area between my shoulder blades and down the spine a ways. It got so bad I mention it to my Dermatologist. He said use Sarna lotion, (over the counter). It does give relief but no cure.
