| Re: darkened areas on my knees, etc. Help!
You folks really need to see a doc about this...
However... since you are here and posting and looking for a possible bit of advice -- try some anti-fungal cream.
What you describe COULD be the result of a fungal infection -- but maybe not!
Get some OTC anti-fungal cream and apply AS DIRECTED. You will need to use it for at least two weeks to see if there is any improvement. Also, you will need to use it for at least two weeks AFTER the problem clears up (assuming that it DOES clear up at all). If you stop using the medication immediately when you see some improvement, the infection will come right back. Fungus is tough to treat sometimes.
It would be better for you to see a doc and get a PROPER diagnosis -- maybe have a culture taken if the doc deems it necessary. But if that's not an option -- at least try the anti-fungal cream and if it fails to work, THEN please see a doc.
Fungal infections of the skin can happen anywhere, not just in the common, problem areas we think of first: feet, groin, etc. Sometimes just getting a small cut from a minor injury can allow fungus to enter the dermis.
