This Itching Is Driving Me Crazy! - Skin Problems Message Board

About 6 months ago, my chest started itching. I had just started a major workout routine and figured my sports bra and sweat were causing it. Then, about 2 months ago, it "spread" to my whole stomach, underarms, and neck. This isn't your normal itching. I haven't had a good night's sleep in 6 months. I wake up a minimum of every hour and just feel like screaming. It almost feels like my skin is crawling. I called a dermatologist and spoke to his nurse. She told me to take cooler showers, use a good lotion or cream and hydrocortisone. Nothing is working!!!!!!! And, this isn't the kind of itching you can ignore. I don't know what to do anymore. Can someone please give me some advice? Thanks.

You could try taking anti histamine tablets. You really need to get it checked out with the doctor/derm because there are so many things that can cause itching.

Ok so you are itchy, thats the easy part. Whats happening to your skin? Is it rashy, raised, scabby, what happens to the skin?

I would definately consider a serious allergy. Start taking Benadryl anti-histamine before you go to bed. It will control any allergy issue and help you sleep better.

Also the dermatologist was correct in their recommendation, however if they dont know "exactly" whats wrong I cant say that hot showers are your problem. I have allergies really bad and every winter (when it gets dryer outside) i get eczema really bad on arms, sides, and the top of my left foot. Im already on 2 allergy pills a day. I switched to hypo-allergenic deodorant (try switching also!), i alternate and use that All "Free" laundry detergent for my sheets and blankets, I have to use a very light soap to wash with in the shower. If i mess up, even one time, I will get hives. And they dont just come and go, I could get hives for 1 full week just for using the wrong deodorant.

If you are not showing any breakouts, it's definitely hives.

Hey,

This is happening to me! I have had it for like 4 weeks. It is a full body itch and following the itching I get patches of sunburn like (not raised, not bumpy) rashes in general areas (and the rashes are random). I can't sleep because I itch all the time. I was put on atarax but that didn't work, they gave me laclotion but that didn't work. I have no clue what to do. Let me know if you figured it out?
