OMG this is so embarrising, please help.. - Skin Problems Message Board

First of all I’m a 15 year old male. The other day I did something really dumb just to be experimental. I wanted to know what it was like to shave off my pubic hair, so I did it. Now there is a big problem…there is still a bunch of little spiky hairs left that will not shave off and they itch really bad and are causing a little bit of a rash. I can barely walk around at school because it is so irritating. Its even hard to sleep at night. I am really really scared and I don’t know what I am going to do so I came here to see if anyone can help me. If anyone has ever experienced anything like this before, or know a solution, it would be a serious lifesaver if you could help me. PLEASE HEP!!, I would appreciate any replies at all…thanks.

You'll be fine in a few days. Whenever you shave hair off down to the skin level it will make it "spiky" because you've cut it off leaving the hair with a blunt edge. It should begin to grow out a little more in a few days and the itching will go away. The one bad thing about shaving those areas is that once you do it, you have to continue to do it to keep it smooth and keep from having the irritation. For the future, I would try just maybe trimming instead of completely shaving it off.

thanks for the reply, but the bad thing is that I shaved it again earlier today to try and get all the little "spiky" hairs off, so now I'll have to wait even longer but thanks again for the reply, now I know to just leave it alone and let it grow out...anyone else wants to reply, feel free...thanks

The previous post encompasses some of my own experience. You should not have to continue to shave that area though. The more you cut or shave hair, the quicker it will grow and it will grow back darker and coarser. I would advise just leaving it alone. If you do not cut or shave it again, it will stop growing.

I shaved my arms once at 10 years old. I was curious about how my grandfather's razor worked. The hair on my arms is not long and is white.

If you read up on that .....that isnt true...its a myth....
If that worked bald men everywhere would be shaving the rest of their hair off.
Anyways..try shaving next time with the hair growth instead of against it...it may not be as close as a shave but it will prevent ingrown hairs and pain...
Also you can try some topical gel from the drug store, made to stop bikini line bumps, burning and other issues...its pretty cheap at walmart....in the cosmetic section i think...also make sure that the razor you use is brand new and you use lots of shaving gel or whatever when you shave down there..
