| recurring infected hairs (foliculitis)
I have a history of getting infected hairs and/or sebaceous gland cysts in my armpits and the groin area. They usually get quite big. 2 years ago I had one in my armpit that I was actually convinced was a tumor because it got almost golfball size. I tried everything - antibiotic ointment, warm compresses, etc but nothing worked. Until I was on crutches and the pressure from crutches forced it open and it drained for 3 days. This past December I had another one in the groin that got so bad I finally went to the dr again and she sent me to a surgeon. He had me apply antibiotic ointment to the inside of my nose 3 times a day for 5 days. Apparantly some people are prone to staph infections like this. Lucky me. Well, now I've got another one starting in the armpit again. I'm doing the ointment in the nose thing again and warm compresses.
I'm just wondering if anybody else has ever dealt with recurring ones like this? I've wondered if having laser hair removal would help since I would have the possibility of infection from shaving all the time. Any experiences? Summer is horrible for the infections because of shaving so much. I'm really good about changing the blades frequently too.
